Bucketty and Districts Prepare for Fire Season
with GET READY WEEKEND Activities
With the recent fires in the Blue Mountains and the weather bureau forecasting an increasingly dry spring, Bucketty and Districts Rural Fire Brigade is eager to assist landowners prepare for the fire season.
The brigade will be doing a ‘Cake & Coffee: School Bus Stop Visit at The Letter A’ on Friday, 4 Sept., 7 a.m.- 9 a.m. and 3 - 5 p.m. Parents, caregivers and passersby are invited to stop by and say hello to our members.
Local children are invited to enter the brigade’s ‘Get Ready Weekend’ image contest – all they have to do is create a drawing or take a photo showing how their family is preparing for the fire season. Entries should be emailed to BuckettyRFB@gmail.com by 10 Sept. All entries will be displayed at the station with the winner announced at 1 p.m. on 13 Sept. There will be a prize for the best entry displaying fire safety preparation.
Brigade members will be doing a ‘Meet and Greet’ community drive around the district on Saturday 12 Sept. We’ll be available to drop in (where invited) to have a chat about properties and answer any questions about fire safety and preparation for the season. Please flag down one of the trucks if you see it in your neighbourhood.
As part of the RFS state-wide ‘Get Ready Weekend’ activities, Bucketty has arranged a free scrap-metal collection day on Sunday 13 Sep. Landowners are invited to bring their scrap metal to the station between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Brigade members will provide assistance to get the scrap into the skip and will be available to talk about the upcoming season. This service will only be available to owners of properties within the Bucketty and Districts rural brigade area of responsibility.
